Mitchell Gallery Awarded Wisconsin Historical Society Grant
Now We Need Your Help!
In July, the Mitchell Gallery was awarded $612 by the Wisconsin Historical
Society and Wisconsin Council for Local History as part of its 2014 matching
mini-grant program. The grant supports the Gallery's purchase of PastPerfect
collections management software.
Did You Know?
In addition to the public museum area, the Mitchell Gallery also maintains an
archive of aviation related artifacts. We currently use Microsoft Excel to keep
track of each artifact, but our collection has grown at a steady pace and Excel
wasn’t created for museums. PastPerfect will give the Gallery the ability to
properly document artifacts and help us in searching, retrieval and sharing.
It is our vision to provide online access to our collection materials, such
as photographs and documents. This will enable the Gallery to further educate
and serve the public by sharing information beyond just those who are able to
visit the museum.
$612 for a grant seems like an odd number, right? It is because the grant
only covers half of the PastPerfect purchase. It is the Gallery's responsibility
to raise the remaining funds. So, for each dollar you donate toward the grant,
the Gallery receives $2, up to $612! The total cost will cover purchase of the
software, training, support, and a backup hard drive.
