Join us for an evening of historic storytelling as we welcome Mike O’Connor, aviation historian and author of the celebrated book Badger Aces: Wisconsin Fighter Aces 1917–1972. Set just days before Veterans Day, this timely presentation highlights the lives and legacies of nine Milwaukee-area fighter aces whose courage and achievements helped shape American military aviation—from World War I through the Vietnam War. Whether you're a dedicated history lover, aviation enthusiast, or someone who simply enjoys the warmth of a good story shared in good company, this fall gathering promises to be both heartfelt and memorable. Additionally, books will be for sale that night directly from the author.
Parking: Plan to park in Hourly Parking on level 3, zone red. The Gallery of Flight will validate parking in this structure, but please bring their parking tickets to the event for the validation.
Directions: After you park, take the skywalk into the main terminal, and immediately look up for signage to the Airport Conference Rooms. The Sijan Conference Room is located in the narrow hallway behind the Museum. For those who may not be familiar with the airport, we’ve included a link to an airport map to guide you.
Our Guest Speaker: Mike O’Connor is widely known for his thorough research and engaging presentation style. His book Badger Aces shines a spotlight on Wisconsin’s unsung air heroes. With decades of dedication to preserving military aviation history, Mike brings a depth of knowledge and storytelling that truly brings the past to life.
All Are Welcome!
This event is free and open to the public—no RSVP required. Bring along a friend, family member, or neighbor who might enjoy a nostalgic evening filled with heroic tales and Wisconsin pride. Let’s come together this fall to celebrate the rich aviation heritage of our city and honor those who served so bravely. Warm apple cider may not be on the menu, but we promise the stories will warm your heart just the same.
